King’s Court Cornhole Rules

The goal of play is to finish the tournament in the King’s Court (Payton’s Boards) – this is a set of boards at one end of the play area. In our tournament, teams’ starting positions are determined by the order of sign up. The teams that sign up first will begin play on Payton’s Boards.

Teams will play eight games. With a win, they move closer to Payton’s Boards, while they move farther with a loss. Movement charts will be provided at each set of boards, so you’ll know where to go.

Game Play

  • Games will be played to 21 points or 15 minutes. You can go over 21 points to win.
  • The boards will be set up 27 feet from each other, measured from the front of the board.
  • A bag on the board at the end of the round is worth 1 point, while a bag in the hole is worth 3.
  • Only one team scores per round – at the end of the round, the net difference in the points for each team will be awarded to the team with the highest total.
  • The team that scores in a given round will throw first in the the next round, with each team alternating throws.
  • If a bag hits the ground after a player throws (even if it lands on the board after a bounce) it is not eligible for points and should be removed from play until the next round.

Remember to have fun!
